A Mixed Bag

I get the question a lot about what “Fit Life” coaching is. The way I see it, a fit life does not stop at working out and eating healthy! It’s about fully embracing life and following your passions. I hate the idea that some people live dreadful lives working for companies who don’t appreciate them, who overwork them, and who give too little back to people giving their lives to these companies. Yes, you may get life insurance (if you are one of the lucky people who get those kinds of perks)…but how many times have you wondered if the perks are worth it? There’s definitely no stability, at least not in this economy! So I see a fit life as being a life where you can provide for yourself without having to rely on someone else for your paychecks. Because let’s face it, you are also relying on them for bathroom breaks, lunch breaks, the ability to make personal phone calls or texts, whether you can take time off to care for a sick child or family member…

I guess the connection between fit life coaching, or entrepreneurial coaching, and fitness coaching (I do both) is that in order to do either, you have to set your sights on high goals. It is not easy changing your health lifestyle if you’ve lived a certain way for so long. You have to change your eating habits, you have to move body parts you might not have moved much before. It hurts–mentally and physically. Sometimes (often), you just want to give up. Same thing with starting your own business, no matter how small or big it is. Sometimes it can seem so hard, so the easy thing is to rely on working for someone else–and NEVER be satisfied!! You can give up on your health/body image goals, and also never be satisfied. I think coaching is the same for both, because I help you not give up, see that YES, there is a light, and you CAN succeed. I’ve gone through the ropes and still am going through the ropes of starting my own business. I’ve done it before with other businesses (I sidelined copywriting projects for marketing and sales). I’ve lived a life of extreme yo-yo dieting, making me miserable! But when you have your goals set in place, and a support mechanism in place, whether it is a coach, a group you attend, whatever, just know that you can and will make it to your dreams.
